Monday 28th

Westerlands in Brough

“The carers at Westerlands Care Village are professionals who always go above and beyond to care for their residents, whom they treat as family.

They carry out their duties with professionalism and kindness. It is clear that this job means more to them than a monthly paycheck.

The residents have access to a varied selection of good quality food, with more than enough to go around.

The managers and staff appear to work well with one another. You’ll find teamwork on display every minute of the day.

I always feel welcomed as a visitor and the staff manage to keep me updated on my husband’s overall health, along with smaller details such as his diet and activity levels. How they manage to offer this same level of care to each resident and their families, is a mystery to me.

I would highly recommend Westerlands to anyone looking for a good local care home for their loved ones.”

Riversway in Bristol

Joyce, Edward and Mike enjoyed the fishing game. We had tea and biscuits while we played, it was a fun game!

Michael celebrated his 82nd birthday on 24th November. We sang Happy Birthday and decorated his room with balloons and banners for the bid day! He loved his chocolates and card from all at Riversway.

Oakdene in Mansfield

We enjoyed a good trip out to our local for some Sunday Grub at the weekend. Everyone had a wonderful time, and the food was fantastic, as always!

The Fieldings in Sutton-in-Ashfield

We took a trip out for some bingo! We may not have won anything, but we all had a brilliant time.

Tuesday 29th

Oakdene in Mansfield

Happy Birthday to our lovely Leesa! We hope you have a wonderful day.

We took a trip out for a spot of shopping as the residents wanted to treat themselves.

Riversway in Bristol

Calling her by name, thereby allowing her to keep her identity. Her end of life care was exemplary, with all staff treating her with such reverence and kindness which reassured us as a family we made the absolute right choice for our mother. Thank you seems almost inadequate a phrase”

We had the brilliant Andy T back in Riversway for some fun music. We all enjoyed a good sing-along. Winnifred enjoyed dancing the whole time Andy was singing. Everyone enjoyed refreshments while we enjoyed our entertainment.

Wednesday 30th

Clarence House in Horncastle

“Clarence House & Granary Care Home in Horncastle is such a wonderful home for the residents. Whenever I have visited in the past few years (I live abroad) I can feel the warm atmosphere, the homeliness and the kindness of everyone is immediate.

The manager and all the carers do everything they can to help their residents, make them feel safe and loved and alive. This is an extraordinary achievement, particularly throughout the Corona times.

Whenever I ring I can always talk to someone who will help me with any questions I may have. When my stepson had to go to hospital in the summer, it felt like one of their children were in hospital, their care, kindness, attention and presence were remarkable.

The manager has created a unique home, she is a very gifted and creative leader, organizer, manager and carer. Everyone working there who I have encountered is a gem, both highly personal and professional and I would like to thank everyone”

Michael enjoyed some 1-1 time in the activity room looking through the classic car magazine. We had a nice chat about what our favourite cars are and what we used to drive. Mike enjoyed a nice cup of tea and some jelly babies!

Oakdene in Mansfield

We had another fantastic trip out bowling. It is by far one of our favourite activities!

Thursday 1st

Riversway in Bristol

“Mum stayed at Riversway Nursing Home for the last year of her life in her own words she always said the home met 90% of her needs.

She was warm – well fed and looked after. Clean, her room was clean. The 10% not given, as it was not her own home”

John and Edward helped Linda to make these savoury muffins. They enjoyed a good chat while they were busy baking. Once finished, they tasted delicious, and the chaps were very pleased with their work. We handed out the rest to some of our lovely residents.

We took a lovely trip out to MacDonalds for a bite to eat, followed by a trip to Asda to get some treats.

Friday 2nd

Riversway in Bristol

“My mother was cared for with respect and dignity. The end of life care was exemplary. All staff were very thoughtful and polite. Thank you.”

We enjoyed some folk music with Phillip. Everyone enjoyed a good sing a long, we even had a few residents and careers up dancing, it was a fun afternoon!
