“I had been dreading the need for my wife to go into a care home, but as soon as I stepped through the doors of Holmes Court Care Home I felt more relaxed.
Β
My daughter and I quickly got to know many of the management team and staff were most impressed by their concern and care for residents.
Β
This care and concern was directed to me during the hours 36 hours I was allowed to spend with my wife before her death”

We want to give a big shout-out to our amazing staff team for their quick reactions to a resident in need. Friday night, one of our residents had a heart attack. The staff reacted quickly, remembering their first aid training. We have been informed by the hospital that over the weekend the resident has improved and is doing well. They hope to have him out of intensive care today. The hospital has said that if the staff hadn’t acted so quickly, it would have been a different story. Well Done, Oakdene Staff, you are amazing! β€œMy name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!” We had an incredibly fun afternoon watching The Princess Bride in our cinema room. The residents enjoyed some popcorn and juice whilst they watched, there is nothing quite like it.

“My aunt is in the final stages of dementia. She is being very well cared for. The staff can’t do enough for her and her carer in particular has gone above and beyond. They are fitting things around her needs, eg. feeding her when she is awake, no matter what time it is. The staff are friendly.”

A few of our residents have started a craft group to create things in the hopes of selling them. All the profit will go to the resident’s fund to help fund trips outs and big events such as Christmas. Our first product is lovingly designed heart-shaped mugs, hand painted by our residents. These would make a perfect gift for Valentine’s day. The Valentine’s mugs are Β£7 each or Β£7.70 if you would like them personalised. We also are selling a pair for Β£12 (not personalised).
