Netherlands and Clarence House

Happy Birthday, Jen, from all your friends at the Netherlands and Clarence House! We hope you had a wonderful day!

Riversway

We had such a wonderful afternoon watching some Ballroom Dancers who came to visit the home. They did so many dances, some of our favourites were the cha-cha-cha, the waltz, the rumba on the quickstep and many more!

Oakdene

A massive breakthrough for one of our wonderful ladies this weekend. It doesn’t look like much, but leaving the home and going for a walk around the local park is a massive step for her! A big thank you to our staff for making this possible, you did such an amazing job!

Meadow View

For the Coronation, we had a fun Coronation Party with lots of food, games and music to celebrate the day. We had a special Royal Bingo which the residents loved!

Tuesday 16th

Tanworth Court

We received this outstanding review on carehome.co.uk! A massive well done to the incredible staff team 👏👏

“My mum came to Tanworth Court Nursing Home in February and she has received the best care.

All staff are lovely, food is good and it’s lovely to see Mom out of her room. She seems to have settled well so thank you to all staff for the amazing care you are giving to our mom.”

Old Station Close

We won the Brakes King’s Coronation Prize Draw! Our home will soon be the owners of two new rose border plants. Well done team, we cannot wait to see what they look like!

Oakdene

We have been taking full advantage of the nice weather and enjoying some time in our garden!

Riversway

Bridget celebrated her 78th Birthday on the 5th of May. She loved all her gifts and cards from all her friends, family, and everyone at Riversway. Her Birthday was the same day as our visit from Frankie Johns, who sang her favourite song, Goodnight Irene, especially for her! She said she had the best birthday ever.

Chamberlaine Court

We had a lovely afternoon watching Trevor Santini perform. Everyone enjoyed joining in with the tambourines and maracas and had a little dance to the music. We cannot wait for Trevor to return later in June.

Wednesday 17th

Meadow View

We received this outstanding review on carehome.co.uk! A massive well done to the incredible staff team 👏👏

“Meadow View Care Centre offered my 91-year-old mother respite care for 6 weeks after a fire in her flat. The excellent home manager and all her staff were welcoming and friendly throughout Mum’s stay.

The home itself is clean, bright and cheery and exceptionally well run by the manager who certainly has her finger on the pulse of the Meadow View Care Centre. The food was good quality and plentiful and the staff were caring. Thank you for looking after my mum so well.”

Riversway

Christine celebrated her 80th birthday on the 10th of May. She enjoyed an afternoon tea in the activity room with her family followed by a little party later on that day. She had a lovely day and enjoy her cake and gifts.

Oakdene

We had a brilliant time in our garden with a few rounds of Skittles followed by some giant parachute fun. It’s so nice to use this space again now the sun is popping out more!

Thursday 18th

Chamberlain Court

We received this outstanding review on carehome.co.uk! A massive well done to the incredible staff team 👏👏

“My wife has dementia, is bedbound and has food intolerance with which the staff have superbly catered. They have begun to build up a safe and happy environment for her and some have brought joy by getting her to sing with them, enabling her to remember words.

However, I have been unable to comment on social activities being committed to her room. It is the greatest wish by staff and myself to hoist her into a wheelchair and to allow her to socialise and perhaps, as she is a pianist, to be involved in music-making.

On my perusal of the rooms downstairs, I have been impressed by the facilities and the friendly ambience of both the building and staff.”

Oakdene

We had a wonderful day out at Pleasley Pit Coal Mining Museum. They had so much for us to do and see. We had a nice drink and snack in the old canteen which made us feel like a member of the mining team!

Riversway

Mike enjoyed some 1-1 time in the activity room. He enjoyed a coffee and cakes whilst looking through some classic car magazines!

Friday 19th

Peaker Park

We received this outstanding review on carehome.co.uk! A massive well done to the incredible staff team 👏👏

“Peaker Park is a lovely setting with extremely friendly staff. They treated Dad with dignity and respect throughout his stay. The staff always had time to chat and update the family. Thank you.”

Riversway

We made some delicious bread rolls which we enjoyed with some cheese, ham and pickle after they finished baking. They were so soft and extremely delicious. The other residents could smell the bread around the home, so we made extra and took them around so everyone could enjoy our work.

Oakdene

Here are some more photos from our wonderful trip to Pleasley Pit Coal Mining Museum.
Alongside the museum, they have a Nature Reserve, Country Park, Visitors Centre, Cafe, and other Tourist Attractions.
We definitely think it is worth the visit!

Seacroft Court

We took a little trip out to Natureland to visit all the animals. Everyone had such a wonderful time, we are looking forward to paying them another visit soon!

Saturday 20th

Tanworth Court

We received this outstanding review on carehome.co.uk! A massive well done to the incredible staff team 👏👏

“Over the last month, I have seen a noticeable improvement in the running of the home.

Much of this, I believe, is due to the change of management and an increased complement of staff.

Hopefully, this will continue into the future.”

Riversway

We took June and Jacqueline over to the Riverside café for lunch. The Sun was shining and we got to see a boot go along the river. They both enjoyed their lunch and we even had time to pop into the local co-op for a little treat after.

Oakdene

We had a brilliant gaming session with a round of bingo followed by some giant snakes and ladders.

Sunday 21st

Birch Green

We received this outstanding review on carehome.co.uk! A massive well done to the incredible staff team 👏👏

“After a short illness, my 93-year-old aunt needed the care of Birch Green Care Home. Her daughter chose this home for her and she couldn’t have chosen a better one.

All the staff genuinely care so much about all of their residents. There is always a member of staff to greet you as soon as you enter, which makes you feel welcome. The atmosphere is so homely and the level of cleanliness is outstanding.

My aunt wasn’t eating when she first arrived but the staff made time to sit with her at meal times and coax her to eat. They also encouraged her to start walking again with the help of a walking aid. The care and attention she has received at Birch Green has been second to none. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Birch Green to anyone who needed care for their elderly relatives.”

Oakdene

Our Colin is so happy to be back at it growing his own tomatoes. They have only just started to sprout, but are looking good!

Riversway

We were joined by the Priest from Saint Patrick’s Church for holy communion. It was a beautiful church service and everyone had a lovely morning. Thank you to Bridget who very kindly helped us to set the table out for the service!
