Gilby House in Winterton

“I have nothing but praise for the staff and the way my son is cared for in Gilby House Nursing Home.
The old-looking building is lovely inside and my son has everything he needs and more. He is not the easiest person to look after but their attitude to him is so happy and caring and he tells them he loves them.
In addition, they have been so kind and helpful to me when I have difficulty visiting (I have Rheumatoid arthritis) and have made sure I have been able to visit and have lovely days with him.
My son has to have a special soft diet, but they make sure it is always tasty and nutritious.”

We took a trip to a local farm to feed some animals! They had so many different friends for us to meet there, and we even got some cuddles! Everyone had a wonderful time!
Riversway in Bristol
Benny is back for lots more cuddles and treats, he really puts a smile on the resident’s faces! He is such a lovely therapy dog, everyone just loves to hold him!
Oakdene in Mansfield
We enjoyed a morning film in the cinema room! Such a brilliant space we have on offer here, so good to see the residents using it!
Tuesday 14th

Chamberlaine Court in Bedworth
We hosted a Resident’s Tea Party for everyone to enjoy. The Residents had a great afternoon enjoying some cakes with a nice cupper whilst listening to some music and enjoying a good chit-chat with one another.

We had another wonderful trip out bowling. The residents love these sessions, always a little bit of competition between them!
Riversway in Bristol
We had the wonderful Lauren back from Flourish. She offered some beautiful dancing and light chair exercises for all the residents, which included props that they all loved! It was a fun session.
White Acres in Shepshed
We had a fun little baking session. Lots of smiles all around as we made some treats for the home!
Wednesday 15th
Loran House in Hull

“My mum moved into Loran House in November, and the first thing that struck me was the absolute kindness of the staff, the fact that a lot of them have been working there for ten years, plus!
She loves the food! It really does look fantastic and prepared with love and care.
My mum is still quite able-bodied and always loved dancing; the staff encourage this a lot, which also ticks so many boxes for Mum’s health and well-being.
Her room has an ensuite toilet and sink, and she has a pressure mattress, which is great as she suffers from severe arthritis.
Mum has her hair done weekly; the home treats her and pays for this every other week; they really don’t skimp or scrape there. Snacks on tap, she’s maintained a good healthy weight though.
The doctor that visits the home has been great and communicates with me.
Mum’s generally looking so much better than when I was caring for her; even though I did my best, she is definitely getting better cognitive and all-round support; she’s thriving at Loran House.”

We made a saint Patrick’s Day cake ready for the celebrations this Friday! We enjoyed lots of chat about Saint Patrick’s Day whilst we decorate our cakes. It was a very fun afternoon!

A resident and staff member decided to brave the snow at the weekend to enjoy the fresh air. It was a lovely winter wonderland walk.
Thursday 16th
South Street in Sheringham
A massive well done to the whole team on retaining a 5 Star Food Hygiene Rating! This is a huge achievement, you should all be so proud of the result!
Welholme Road in Grimsby
Our garden birds will still be struggling to find food right now, so we made some bird feeders to help out. Such a simple task, but everyone had a great time and they are excited to see all the visitors they get in the garden.
Oakdene in Mansfield
It was cold and snowy outside, so we decided to have a film day in our cinema room. We enjoyed the Disney remake of the Lion King!
Riversway in Bristol
St Patrick’s day pub club. We had lots of Irish music and snacks to celebrate St Paddy’s Day tomorrow. We enjoyed a good sing-along and enjoyed each other company!

We had some fun creating some Origami. We had some brilliant easy-to-follow guides that helped us make some wonderful Origami artwork.
Friday 17th
Kirklees in Grimsby
Mitch the manager would like to give a massive shout-out and a huge well done to all the staff. We recently had an Occupational Therapist visit the home and she mentioned that the staff “were fantastic with the client and assisting with the assessment!” Well Done team, it is great to see that everything you do is noticed and appreciated!
Acorn Close in Shepshed
Two of our residents enjoyed a drive through Loughborough yesterday. They decided to stop at The Rose and Crown pub to watch the horse racing followed by seeing the boats and ducks on the River Soar. They thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
Riversway in Bristol
We did some St Patrick’s day crafts. We made these cute Leprechaun hats that we filled with lots of different sweets that the residents were able to choose from. We enjoyed lots of chats about St Patrick’s Day on the meaning of it.
It’s a bit of St Patrick’s Day sparkle in the home!
We handed out some cakes to everyone to enjoy!

We had a fun session cake decorating! We topped some cupcakes and rice crispy cakes with icing and our favourite toppings! It was good, messy fun!
The Fieldings in Sutton-in-Ashfield
In honour of St Patrick’s Day today, we recently went to see Ireland the Show at their local theatre. It was a wonderful evening out, the residents had a wonderful time!

“My aunt passed away in January after spending the last 4 and a half years of her life at Riversway Nursing Home.
During her time there, her health deteriorated due to dementia, she was always well cared for by the excellent staff, she was safe and secure and I felt she was in the best hands. Everyone at the home was always helpful and professional. I will always recommend to others looking for care for a relative.”

Nothing like a good swim, so we took a trip out for a dip. It was good fun, so nice to do some lengths.

We enjoy bowling so much that we decided to bring it into the home with a few rounds of corridor bowling!
