They all had a fantastic day, and thoroughly enjoyed their day out. We can’t wait to collect our painted pots next week once they have been glazed and baked in the kiln so keep your eyes out for some pictures of our finished pots.

Springhill in Accrington

We received this outstanding review on carehome.co.uk! A massive well done to the incredible staff team 👏👏

“My mother has vascular dementia and was admitted to Springhill Care Home four years ago. From her assessment to her admission and at every point beyond, the team could not have been more supportive and understanding.

In this time, her condition has varied, and at every point, the staff kept us fully informed, be it a change in medication or diet or even assistance engaging in the minefield that county councils can be, with assessments and appraising levels of needs and care. This was especially helpful throughout lockdowns when visiting was erratic, and we welcomed updates by call and newsletter emails.

With this change in condition, staff can adjust the level of support needed, be it personal care or dietary needs. Every experience has been positive, professional and caring.

Rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. As a retired nurse herself, she feels comfortable and supported. We will always be grateful to the Springhill team for their love and support.”

The Mount in Barrow upon Humber

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs.” From Residents and Staff at The Mount, with much LOVE 🙂

Thursday 16th

Peaker Park in Market Harborough

We received this outstanding review on carehome.co.uk! A massive well done to the incredible staff team 👏👏

“Mum moved into Peaker Park in February 2018 and remained there until her death in January this year. During that time, she lived in several of the units and in each, she received nothing but kindness and care.

In the early days of her stay, she enjoyed trips out, whether to the park, the garden centre or further afield. Later she would sometimes join in activities within her unit, enjoying cooking or a manicure, but if she chose not to be sociable, her choice was always respected.

Throughout lockdown, we could always call, even when visits were impossible, and the staff kept us updated on her health and wellbeing. In her final months, as Mum became more frail and confused, all the staff worked tirelessly to keep her comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble, and she was treated with dignity and tenderness to the very end. Their care even extended to us, her family, and it gave us great comfort. I can recommend Peaker Park without reservation.”

Sunday 19th

The Fairways (part of Phoenix Park) in Scunthorpe

Sadly, we recently lost one of our amazing Residents. As they were taken into the care of Jason Threadgold Funeral Directors, our wonderful Residents and staff at the home wanted to pay their respects to their friend. As their friend was taken through the Home, they lined the corridors to place flowers on them as they passed. The team at Jason Threadgold were taken aback by the experience and had this to say about the event. “I would like to share my thoughts with you about how my colleague and I felt when we brought your resident into our care from The Fairways. We both agreed that we felt touched by how all of their fellow residents and friends lined the corridors and placed flowers on them as they left the home. I am sure it felt incredibly comforting for the other residents to know that they were involved in their journey and hadn’t been forgotten about or kept ‘out of the way.’ We truly felt it was a lovely thought from the staff at The Fairways. It’s not something I personally have ever seen before; however, I feel it is something to be encouraged. We will continue to take care of them in the dignified and respectful manner, as you did while they were in your care, and we will ensure they have the send-off they deserve.”

Oakdene in Mansfield

Another quick round of bingo games with the residents, followed by some dominos! It’s a good way to get together and spend some time with one another.

Luisa, Lisa, and Sue took David and June over to the riverside cafe. We had some delicious cakes and coffee. After, we popped into the local CoOp, where June picked up a few treats for herself. David very kindly helped us with some shopping we needed for a party. He reached up to the top shelves, helped to pack the shopping and pushed the trolly. They both said what a lovely time they had!
