Clarence House in Horncastle

“My daughter has only been at Clarence House & Granary Care Home since December 2021. I have been very pleased with the way she has settled in and I think this is down to the home manager and staff. She is always cheerful and happy whenever I phone her. If I have a concern I feel that I can always phone the home and speak to either the home manager or my daughter’s key worker and if they are not available another member of the staff will deal with the problem.
My daughter always speaks favourably regarding meals and if there is something she does not like she is offered an alternative. Regarding the activities side, there does appear to be quite a lot arranged for the resident whether indoors or out, e.g. cinema or shopping, which I do hope continues as I do feel this is very important.
Regarding decorating etc., I know there is a rolling programme and my daughter’s room has just been decorated. However, I do feel that the outside of the home does need attention sometime soon as this is looking in a poor state of repair. Overall, Clarence House is excellent”

Milly kindly brought little Frank in for some pet therapy. He was so well-behaved again, and just like last time he had lots of cuddles and treats from the residents. Everyone said how soft his fur is, he is a lovely boy!

And on the 11th hour, we will remember them… We held our two-minute silence to honour and remember all those who we have loved and lost in our Memorial Garden. We had two beautiful red apple trees planted in honour of one of our much-loved residents who recently passed away. Jimmy’s wife Moira and sister Pat picked the red as Jimmy was a lifelong Liverpool Fan who could always be heard singing “you’ll never walk alone”. Thank you again, Moira and Pat, our residents will enjoy the colour and bloom for years to come x

We had a lovely trip out together to the local cinema. It was a nice evening out together and we all enjoyed the film.
Kirklees in Grimsby
On Saturday, we coloured and painted pictures of poppies, followed by a quiz on, “Pictures of Remembrance”. We had some amazing responses to their thoughts, so we put their answers into speech bubbles around the pictures and turned them into a remembrance day display wall. On Sunday, we gathered outside to watch the remembrance day parade, we all thoroughly enjoyed it!

The amazing Shannon was back for more singing! We had a lovely afternoon with lots of old-time favourite songs with refreshments during the singing. We can’t wait until we see Shannon next month!

Our wonderful residents all work together to make this remembrance day reef to hand on our front door. We think they did an amazing job.

Thursday 17th
Birch Green in Skelmersdale

“Friendly and supportive staff, always approachable when we visit. Mum seems to have a good relationship with the staff. The rooms are always clean and tidy. Now that the restrictions are not as tight, activities are starting to take place, which I think is a great thing for residents and staff.
Our family is always kept up to date with mum’s condition. One suggestion from me would be some sort of family portal, so I could log in to see how mum’s day has been, so when I visit (or from home) I can see how she’s been etc.”

We created this display near our entrance to have a place for residents, staff and visitors to pay respects to our fallen heroes!
Riversway in Bristol
We enjoyed a pampering morning at Riversway. They had their nails painted and hand massaged, with lots of happy faces. We looked through some magazines whilst enjoying some tea and cakes. Everyone was very happy with the choices of colours for their nails.

We love a few rounds of cards in the home. It is such a fun way to spend time together, we get to chit-chat, and enjoy a drink and snack whilst enjoying a hand or two.

Edward enjoyed some one-to-one time with Teresa. Ed enjoyed doing the puzzle with Teresa after they looked at the times gone by book together whiles having a cup of tea and a cake.

Pub Club fun is back at Riversway. We had snacks, drinks, music and, most of all, we enjoyed each other’s company. We sang lots of songs and had a wonderful afternoon.
