Provider announced for new care home in Shirley

PrimeLife has been announced as the new provider to run Solihull Council’s new dementia care home, due to open in Shirley this autumn.

The 60-bed modern, purpose built care home, is under construction on land just off Tanworth Lane adjacent to a medical centre. It will meet the needs of the increasing number of older people in the borough, particularly those with dementia. The Council already has a long-standing relationship with PrimeLife, a major provider of social care with more than 60 care homes across the country including Solihull.

The new home, being built by Speller Metcalfe, will provide affordable, high quality nursing care for those funded by the Council, the NHS and people who pay for their own care.
As our population of older people in the borough grows, so too does the demand for high quality care and support services. The new home is the Council’s response to the challenge of trying to find affordable care within the borough.

Councillor Karen Grinsell, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health said: “PrimeLife was chosen because of their wealth of experience in the care home sector and we believe they will provide excellent care for the people of Solihull.
